Betegszervezetek Magyarországi Szövetsége (BEMOSZ) – the Hungarian Alliance of Patient Organisations (HAPO)- was founded by 12 patient organizations in autumn of 2013.  Its establishment is the decade-long intention of the health NGOs, the last momentum of which has been the result of recent developments. Patient organizations would have liked a truly civic, bottom-up federation that can be a member of international platforms capable of nurturing EU-level EU relations and acting  in concert to work on the principle of equity, human health preservation and patient care in accordance with human dignity.  The role of this organization can also include social, labor, educational issues, interest protection, and liaising with government agencies in these areas.
