Steering Committee of Experts meet for the first time in this dedicated online workshop organized by the partnering web company INNUO
Thursday, 30th April, the Steering Committee workshop for the WFIPP web-based digital platform took place virtually in place of the original face-2-face meeting.
Just as a reminder, the project with the collaboration of Medtronic and organized technically by the international web company ‘INNUO’ who will also be analyzing the input, is a one-of-a-kind project with infinite potential.
Steering Committee online workshop for the WFIPP web platform project 30th April, 2020
During the three hour on-line session, the SC participants comprising healthcare professionals and expert patients spent the 3 hours according to a design-thinking model initially brainstorming and then classifying their ideas into predetermined categories created by the INNUO team.
The world of incontinence and pelvic problems was discussed from various points of view, certainly the main stage was occupied by patient awareness. The whole digital platform is patient-centred, and as such also the discussion focused mainly on the patient perspective.
To give you an idea of the immense amount of work which the platform entails, some of the categories discussed went from first awareness of, and coping with, this issue which is still highly stigmatized in society, to the steps to be taken into consideration when analyzing a patient’s condition and perspective.
A special thank you to the INNUO team who managed to create an environment as close to real time as possible. It was quite easy to participate in the workshop and the discussions and feedback all went smoothly. Everything on the agenda was covered within the designated time and the three hours just flew by.
Our thanks too to the Steering Committee who did a great job weaving their way through the various design models and tasks. By way of illustration just some of the ‘post-its’ which emerged! Their motivation and dedication was more than apparent and we really are grateful for their input and will of course build on this first workshop in the months to come.
We will keep you updated on the progress of the platform. The launch of the dedicated website had been scheduled to coincide with World Continence Week 2020, namely in June. This will now be later this year due to the COVID-19 situation. Nevertheless, the questionnaires which were distributed in early March are still online and can still be completed and submitted. The more information we have the more robust the platform will be.
The three partners in this digital project, WFIPP, Medtronic and INNUO are genuinely interested in actively raising awareness about incontinence and taking care of patient needs with a realistic and meaningful patient pathway to improve the quality of life for those millions who suffer from this condition.
The WFIPP Executive Council is convinced that now is the time to continue to move forward and seek the best means of serving patients, their families, carers, healthcare professionals and indeed the public at large. COVID-19 has demonstrated just how important it is for there to be accurate and meaningful information which in our case can serve the community on all matters relating to continence issues.
